After completing my journey, I stayed on in Africa for just over three months. I returned to Tofo, Mozambique and became a PADI certified Divemaster. It was a wonderful time, walking to work each day at dawn along the deserted beach, occasionally joined by one of the local dogs.

I discovered a whole new world. I spent each day diving with giant Manta Rays and Whale Sharks, observing life largely ignored by us landlubbers. It inspired me to want to live closer to the ocean, and to learn to sail.

After my wonderful three months, reality came knocking. I would have loved to stay in Africa, but without an income, that would have been hard! Lian, who I met in Tanzania was able to tempt me to the US, where we are now married and are living happily.

I've re-skilled as a photographer, and can be found working these days as a Santa Cruz wedding photographer, but I'm waiting for that familiar itch to return... The one that will call us off to some other distant corner of our wonderful planet. Next time, I'll be traveling across the oceans.
